Since our humble beginnings in Philadelphia, Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza has been dedicated to bringing authentic, coal-fired pizza to our community. What started as a family dream has grown into a beloved local institution.

Our founder, Anthony, immigrated from Naples with nothing but a passion for pizza and a secret family recipe passed down through generations. He believed that pizza wasn't just food—it was a way to bring people together, to create memories, and to share the warmth of Italian hospitality.

Today, we continue that tradition with the same commitment to quality, authenticity, and community that Anthony instilled from day one. Every pizza that comes out of our coal-fired ovens carries with it the spirit of craftsmanship and love that defines our brand.

We believe that great pizza starts with great ingredients. That's why we source our tomatoes from San Marzano, import our mozzarella from Italy, and fire our ovens with real coal to achieve that distinctive smoky flavor and perfectly charred crust that can't be replicated any other way.

Our Journey

From humble beginnings to Philadelphia's favorite pizza destination

1995 - The Dream Begins

Anthony Russo arrives in Philadelphia from Naples with his family's secret pizza recipe and a dream to share authentic Italian pizza with America. He works in various pizzerias to learn the American market while perfecting his craft.

2001 - First Location Opens

After years of planning and saving, Anthony opens the first Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza location in South Philadelphia. The coal-fired oven is imported directly from Italy, becoming the heart of the restaurant.

2005 - Recognition Grows

Local food critics discover Anthony's, praising the authentic Neapolitan-style pizza. Word spreads throughout Philadelphia, and lines begin forming outside the restaurant on weekends.

2010 - Second Location

Due to overwhelming demand, Anthony opens a second location in Center City. The new restaurant features an open kitchen where customers can watch the pizza-making process.

2015 - Catering Expansion

Anthony's launches a full catering service, bringing coal-fired pizza to weddings, corporate events, and private parties throughout the Philadelphia area.

2020 - Digital Innovation

Adapting to changing times, Anthony's launches online ordering and contactless delivery while maintaining the same quality standards that made them famous.

2024 - Present Day

Today, Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza is recognized as one of Philadelphia's premier pizza destinations, serving thousands of satisfied customers while staying true to the original vision of authentic, quality Italian cuisine.
